Well, whatever it is, it sure isn’t atheism.

Of course, some atheists do believe that some morals are subjective - for example, I personally believe that abortion is not immoral if the mother is incapable of caring for a baby or if she has been raped, but abortion becomes immoral when it is simply used for contraceptive purposes when the mother was willingly having unprotected sex with no intention of dealing with pregnancy. In that case, morality becomes subjective.

But that is not a solely atheist concept. Many theists also ’shape’ the rules depending on circumstance. The abortion matter for one.

It’s common sense to say that not all morals can be simply black and white. It is kindness to be able to change choice rules in the face of certain circumstances.

Mistreating other people is wrong; that overarches the categories of particular behaviors you listed. To take one example, lying to protect the feelings of a person may or may not be wrong. Failing to lie may also be wrong.

The long-term consequences of an action might not be what was intended. There’s no easy way around that. It is our responsibility to try to think things through as well as we can. Yes, that leaves lots of uncertainty; it’s possible for anybody to do harm when meaning to do good, regardless of where they get their morals. But to ignore that possibility, and act on simplistic rules at all times, seems to me a major cop-out. That is why I value relativistic, thought-required morals over religious rules: they reflect personal involvement.

What you describe is the moral relativistic worldview. I cannot speak for other atheists, but my worldview holds that deception, theft, and other forms of harm are unethical. I believe this because for society to function, people need to follow rules and take into account the needs of the community as well as their own needs. For society to function, there must be a social contract, wherein all members of a society agree to uphold and follow the laws of society, and in return, society protects them better than they could by themselves.

To phrase things another way, science describes the way the world is, not the way it should be. Moral and ethics describe the way the world should be, not the way the world is. They address completely different aspects of existence. The notion of atheists as complete moral relativists is a straw man conceived to demonize them.

Target (or any grocery store) rules?
I’m curious, are there any rules on the grocery stores about having to pay for the food before you eat it? I’m talking about the people who grab a bag from the shelf, start munching down, and pay for it at the end, vs grabbing a bag from the shelf, paying for it, then munching down.

This movie is IMPOSSIBLE to find, if anyone could help, t'would be awesome?
There be a movie, rather old, when i was a wee lad in the late 80’s, it was in Blockbuster. The movie was called ‘Big Mac’, if I remember correctly, and it was about these brown aliens who crash landed on Earth and a boy somehow ends up helping them out. The aliens LOVED coca~cola i remember, but thats about all i remember. If anyone can help me find this i would burn with the gratuity of a thousand suns- palease helpa thankyou!!!

How much do the chevy dealership charge to add a spoiler to a car?
I want to add a spoiler to my 2006 cobalt LS and I want to know how much it would cost me to do that modification.

I have a company we buy spoilers from for $125 to $150 depending on the model and that’s painted to match your car. Install time is 1 hour which in my shop is $65.

this will have little to no performance increase in your car, especially on a slow car (not even an ss). if it’s just for aesthetics, ask yourself if it’s worth the price of the spoiler, installation costs, and trying to match the color of your car (most body kit parts come unpainted)

for about 190dollars you can purchase your own spoiler and they are made to fit your car. just pop the trunk undo a few bolts the bolt it on. you may have to pay for paint also to match your car, plus never buy fiberglass, only abs plastic

You realize that a spoiler is added to a "race" car to cause downward thrust on the vehicle to add weight to the rear wheels to allow the vehicle to go faster while maintaining friction with the track, right? And you are going to add a spoiler to the rear of a front wheel drive 4 cylinder? Ok, the answer to your question is the cost of the spoiler you pick out, plus the paint to match the car, plus the average cost of of labor per hour is $42.50 an hour currently. So you would probably be better off just finding a new cobalt with a spoiler already on it and buying it.

So why do a lot of women respond to pictures of other, usually hotter, women with any negative comment?
I have a picture of me and an old friend of mine set as my desktop background. Now… 3 friends saw the pic while searching around on my computer for my music. Sure it started off fine with "Wow, she’s cute", and such… 2 minutes later they go back to the computer and start in with stuff like "Hm… She’s cute, but her eyes are too close together", and "She’s so skinny, and way too muscular". Keep in mind, I couldn’t exactly call these girls attractive. My friend in the picture did a lot of modeling over high-school, and while I don’t find the others unattractive… I can’t think of a good way to put this… Moving on…

It’s not just the picture, either. From what I’ve seen, a lot of women act like this towards just about anyone, friends, friends of friends, celebrities, basically anyone else. I figured, ya know, I’m outta high school. You’d think they’d have grown out of this silly little thing, whatever it is.

What I wanna know, why? Why do this?

Another (Male) friend once joked about this with a Dark Knight poster his friend got "Yeah, Batman’s awesome and bad-ass and all… but he like, really like, needs to shave, and like, guys like that, like, never call"
I seriously need more mature friends, like the second answerer.

wtf are you talking about. Guys do something similar to other guys who seem to be better looking. They’d do stuff like make the guy seem incapable or make him seem gay. It’s a common practice in this place in Europe called The Square or something like that.

Guys who have lots of game but look average or butt-ugly use techniques to de-masculate the better looking guy. They either distract him by making convo with him. Defame him by asking a loaded question under guise or make him look like a beta male by asking a series of questions and social pressure designed to make him look like an subordinate male.

It’s called character assassination and men are guilty too.
